How about "Stopping unnecessary posts?" What category would that fall into?

Perhaps that is the definition of mercy.
=P

Could you be more specific about why you find it unnecessary?

Do you find it a retread of the ground of the previous posting?

Is it an dull or uninteresting writeup?

Nakedly inflammatory?

Or perhaps just generally ridiculous?

I'm sure you already know from your webserver logs will that I win the contest for most mindlessdrivel.com page refreshes per day. I like the blog because it juxtaposes the serious with ridiculous in a uniquely 'Kyle' way. By my taste, this post needed more ridiculous to balance out the serious.

But hey, its easy to throw spit balls when your name appears on the "List of Male friends who don't have blogs".

interesting view, but here are some questions that i have about the nature of evil, and i guess good too:) First off i would like to clarify that destruction, while unfortunate is not nessicarily evil, or rather is a neccisary evil as it were (just a play on words there at the end:) I think good and evil are sort of social constructs, used to define harm priciples that we inflict on each other. Therefore, i feel there has to be malice for something to pass into the realm of "evil". intent. i think it ties into responsiblity. as sentient beings we can sometimes foress outcomes and empathize with our fellow beings, and taking this into account and behaving accordingly i think is where the idea of goodness comes into play. Doing good, then in my zygotic ideas of the thing, has to do with love and kindness. perhaps with the bridge collapse, for instance it was a misappropriation of priorities. to whomever was making the decisions, whatever string there was, the loss of life was not prioritized over, funds, buracracy, or hiring of competent personal or whatever. i think your feelings about wanting it to be terrorists has more to do with human's uncomfortablility with randomness. It is always easier to look at a situation and find solvancy than to merely accept that it was fate. There are so many factors that go into fate, that sometimes it is impossible to take effect action. Sometimes we are weak, hairless, poorly built creaturs despite our brains. I think that troubles lots of people. It is more comforting to have something to fight against, than to think that you have no control and could slip under the subway at the wrong time cause you caught your heel on gum. The ideas of good and evil give us the control, something to fight for or against, something to solve. That is comforting to us as a species. It is why i am scared to death to fly, because i must put all my faith in a pilot, the crew, an outdated flight control system, the weather, the costruction of the plane and the fellow passengers (ie turing off cell phones which according to my dad, if there is they tiniest leak in the electrical system will cause the plane to drop out of the sky). i do not trust people enough for that. and i have no control. i was fine in the cessna because i was sitting next to the pilot, i could see what he was doing, and i knew what was going on and could actively monitor his competence. The same with Hurricane Katrina. The hurricane was unfortunate but vital to the eco-system down there, what could be classified as "evil" or "bad" is the human element. the draining of the swampland that is the natural buffer. the mangrove swamps, were they intact would have midagated most of the damage. the poor design of the levee system. what became apprarent in that was the compete disregard for the people of less economic means by the rest of society. all of our society. all the development down there points to short term gain for a few individuals, not to long term sustainablity, nor the lives of other human beings without vast sums of capitol. That is irresponsible. And i think the idea of responsibility and, to use Mike's father's term "logical consequences" gets closer to the idea of good and evil than things that are unfortunate or destructive. ps what do you think about destruction? i have trouble with this one, because humans have a real love/hate relationship to it. anyway i'll write more about that in an e-mail:)
